Case Study: Cozy Bear - Building a Growth Marketing Foundation

Client: Cozy Bear

Industry: D2C Home & Lifestyle

Engagement: Growth Marketing Consulting & Founder Advisory

Background

When I started working with Cozy Bear, the brand was at an early stage of building its marketing function. The founders were exploring different growth channels but needed a more structured approach to understanding performance marketing, brand communication and customer acquisition. My role was to mentor and guide the founders in developing a structured growth marketing strategy while helping them understand how different channels and partnerships could contribute to building the brand.

Objective

To mentor and guide the founders in developing a structured growth marketing strategy across key channels, with a focus on building the right frameworks, processes and decision-making for sustainable growth.

Strategy & Approach

1. Building a structured approach to growth marketing

I helped the founders develop a clearer approach to performance marketing, including how to think about Meta Ads, creative communication, campaign objectives and performance evaluation.

Rather than focusing only on running campaigns, we worked on understanding the thinking behind each marketing activity and how it connected to the broader customer journey.

A key part of the engagement was helping the founders understand how to evaluate creative performance, identify what was working and use those learnings to improve future communication.

2. Building the Growth Marketing Mindset

The most important part of the engagement was helping the founders develop a stronger understanding of how to approach growth marketing themselves.

Through regular advisory conversations, we worked through the connection between:

Business Objective → Marketing Objective → Channel → Metric → Result → Next Decision

This helped the founders move from looking at individual marketing activities to understanding how different initiatives contribute to the overall growth of the business.

The goal was to build marketing capability, not dependency.

3. Building a B2B2C Growth Opportunity

Given Cozy Bear’s home décor category, I identified opportunities to build an additional growth channel through interior designers.

Instead of relying only on direct-to-consumer acquisition, we explored how Cozy Bear could build relationships with interior designers who could introduce the products into their projects and spaces.

The strategy included:

  • Building a community of relevant interior designers
  • Creating opportunities for designers to discover and use Cozy Bear products
  • Giving designers visibility through the brand
  • Exploring how the products could become part of interior design projects
  • Creating a mutually beneficial relationship between the brand and design community

This created a potential ecosystem around the brand rather than treating every customer interaction as a one-time transaction.

4. Exploring Airbnb & Hospitality Opportunities

Another industry-specific opportunity was identifying Airbnb properties as a relevant distribution and visibility channel.

We explored how Cozy Bear products could be positioned within Airbnb spaces to make properties more distinctive while simultaneously giving the brand real-world visibility.

This helped expand the growth conversation beyond traditional digital acquisition and towards where the product could physically live, be experienced and discovered.

5. Strengthening the Brand Foundation

As part of the engagement, I also worked with the founders on the brand foundation framework and how the brand’s positioning could translate into clearer communication across different audiences and channels.

The focus was on building a stronger connection between the brand, its target consumer and the different communities that could help the brand grow.

The goal was to help the founders become better marketers while building the systems, frameworks and partnerships that could support Cozy Bear’s next stage of growth.
