A few strategies that we used to optimise Ad-hoc Email Campaigns and increase open rates by 300%.
In the second month, we saw that the open rate was twice the initial average.
And last month we saw that our open rate jumped to 4x of the initial average.
A few things that we did to achieve this:
1. We started preparing a proper calendar at the beginning of the month - this helped in brainstorming and hence fine-tuning the retention marketing efforts.
2. Segmenting the audience & sending emails with relevant subject lines - Even if the ultimate communication is the same, we change the way it is communicated for different segments.
2. Stopped using words like discount, sale, offer, etc in the subject line. Started using Emojis.
3. Started using different persuasion techniques in the subject line. Relatability works best for us. Do let us know what works best for you. This also reduced our unsubscribe rates.
4. Constantly analysing & doing more of what worked in the past.
5. Reimagining the creatives, bringing the first principles thought process for getting the creatives made.
I think all of the points that are mentioned above are very basic & known to everyone. Most marketers would be doing much more than this.
But what worked for us was sticking to basics (5 points) & refining them further without getting into this trap that we have done it all & hence moving our focus to other things that we could do.
Customers started engaging & as a by-product, the revenue generated from the activity also jumped.
