Two Indian tech products solving problems for Indian D2C founders.
Typof - An Indian alternative to Shopify
I have always vouched for Shopify as a platform for e-commerce websites. It is really easy and simple to use while creating a website and managing it. The app ecosystem on Shopify also ensures that we have enough options for all the functionalities that we need for a website.
In fact, my blog website – palkakejriwal.com is also on Shopify although it is not an e-commerce store.
But I always used to think - why is there no India platform, especially when the Indian startup ecosystem is booming?
I did some research and found one – Typof
It is a fairly new platform. But it is designed by keeping in mind the Indian D2C Startups. It has most of the features that an Indian D2C brand would need. Listing a few features, especially in comparison with Shopify.
- One of the best features is that we don’t need a lot of apps or plugins. A few basic features like – Reviews, Rewards, Advanced Coupon creation, etc. are built-in. This saves us from installing various apps and hence also keeps the website faster.
- There is an option for OTP verification built-in at the checkout, this ensures that the number entered by the customer is correct. Which, needless to say will help in reducing RTO.
- The third point, also one very big pain point for all small businesses using Shopify’s Basic plan is the lengthy checkout process. Most of the businesses which have a decent amount of revenue have started using Shoflo to shorten the process. With Typof the checkout process is short by default.
- I have always seen founders spending thousands of rupees to develop a website. Shopify is also mostly drag and drop and a basic website can be created by anyone. With Typof, you get access to Typof’s team of developers free of cost and they do this for every client they have.
Here is the link to the Typof website, where you can check out more details.
Also, I would like to point out that this is not a paid partnership. I have written this article just for sharing the knowledge that I have gained.
Zipy – An Indian alternative to Hotjar and much more
Not sure how many of you use Hotjar, but I have always been a fan.
I check the heatmaps and recordings there to understand what customers are doing once they land on the website.
Recently while scrolling on LinkedIn, I came across this platform called Zipy. The post said that I could label different buttons on my website & then track the clicks and flow from there.
It sounded super interesting hence I booked a free demo call with them. The tool is a lot like Hotjar but has some additional features.
On the call, I understood these 4 important features of the tool:
- Zipy uses AI to highlight important screen recordings that will help us understand where the customers are dropping off.
- It also has advanced filters to filter the recordings as compared to Hotjar, like – the customer’s browser, OS, etc.
- The tool not only helps in tracking, it also identifies if there are any issues on the website and calls them out. So, it is also helping the product manager and development team.
- They have a free plan for small startups!
Here is a link to the Zipy website, book your free demo and explore the tool.
Again, would like to call out that this is not a paid promotion. Just came across a good tool, and hence sharing it with everyone.
Do let me know your experience if you try any of these.
Thank you for reading, I hope this piece of knowledge helped you in some way! Please do share your feedback.
